Parking Lot Lighting
Photometric design, pole foundations, fixture install, and aim for retail, healthcare, and commercial sites. LED retrofits a specialty.

Photometric design through final aim.
M4 Electric delivers full-scope parking lot lighting - photometric modeling, pole foundations, fixture installation, smart-control integration, and final aim verification - for retail centers, healthcare campuses, commercial property managers, and municipal facilities across Oklahoma.
Typical scopes: shoebox area lights on tall steel poles for parking lots and surface lots, wall-pack and bollard lighting at building perimeters, LED retrofit of existing HID systems, photocell and timer integration for dusk-to-dawn operation, smart controls for occupancy-based dimming, and pole maintenance and replacement.
We design to IES RP-20 (Lighting for Parking Facilities) with foot-candle uniformity ratios that meet insurance, ADA, and tenant-lease requirements.
The economics of LED retrofit.
Replacing 400W metal-halide shoebox fixtures with 150W LED equivalents reduces energy consumption by approximately 60% per fixture.
A 30-pole retail parking lot running 12 hours nightly saves roughly $8,000–$12,000 per year at typical Oklahoma commercial utility rates - and that's before maintenance savings.
Maintenance is where LED really wins.
HID lamps require replacement every 2 - 4 years. LED fixtures last 50,000 - 100,000 hours - roughly 12 years at 12-hour nightly operation.
A 30-pole lot avoids 90+ relamping truck rolls over the LED's life. At $200 - $400 per truck roll, that's another $20,000+ in avoided service costs.
Beyond cost: better foot-candle uniformity. LED area-light optics produce smoother light pools with fewer dark zones between fixtures, which improves the lot's safety profile, reduces insurance claims, and meets retail tenant lease specs that older HID systems often fail.
How we deliver.
Photometric modeling. AGi32 or Visual photometric software output, foot-candle uniformity ratios, pole-by-pole layout. Submitted for owner review before install.
Foundation and pole. Concrete bases sized for wind load and soil bearing. Anchor-bolt placement, conduit stub-up, and grounding per NEC.
Fixture install and aim. Modern shoebox LED fixtures with selectable wattage and CCT (typically 4000K), house-side shielding where needed for property-line cutoff, dark-sky compliant optics available.
Smart controls and post-install service. Photocell and contactor wiring, optional networked controls (DLC-listed), and maintenance contracts that keep the lot lit through the fixture warranty period.
