Lighting public infrastructure across Oklahoma.

M4 Electric works for cities, counties, and public works departments across Oklahoma on streetscape lighting, civic facility electrical, public-space and park illumination, and emergency response facility wiring.

Typical scopes: streetlight pole installation and LED retrofit, downtown corridor and streetscape lighting, park and trail pedestrian lighting, civic building electrical (city hall, courthouse, library), fire station and police facility power and lighting, dark-sky compliant fixture conversions, and smart-control integration with city asset-management systems.

We bid municipal RFPs as a prime or as a subcontractor to general contractors, and we negotiate maintenance and emergency-response contracts that keep municipal lighting working long after the install.

Why municipal lighting is changing.

LED conversions reduce streetlight energy use by 50 - 75% versus the high-pressure sodium (HPS) and metal-halide (MH) fixtures they replace.

A city operating 1,000 streetlights at 250W HPS draws roughly 1.1 million kWh annually for lighting alone. The same 1,000 lights converted to 90W LED draws under 400,000 kWh - a savings of approximately $70,000 - $100,000 per year at typical Oklahoma utility rates.

Smart controls extend the savings. Photocell-and-schedule integration cuts another 10–15% by dimming or shutting off in low-traffic hours. Asset-management telemetry catches outages within hours instead of weeks, reducing resident complaint cycles and field-service truck rolls.

Dark-sky compliant fixtures (BUG rating B1-U0-G1 or better) protect rural Oklahoma night-sky access while still meeting IES RP-8 illuminance requirements for roadway safety.

Built for the maintenance cycle.

Photometric design. Foot-candle and uniformity-ratio modeling per IES RP-8 (roadway), RP-20 (parking), and RP-33 (outdoor environments). We submit modeled plans for owner and AHJ review before installation.

Foundation and pole. Concrete foundations sized for soil bearing and wind load, anchor-bolt cages, embedded conduit, and grounding electrodes per NEC Article 250.

Install and aim. Galvanized steel poles, modern angular LED fixtures, photocell and contactor integration. Every fixture aimed and verified against the photometric plan.

Maintenance and emergency response. Cities don't stop. M4 carries replacement fixtures and stocks pole-mounted gear, and we negotiate scheduled-maintenance and 24-hour emergency-response contracts so streetlights stay lit.
